I find it interesting that both the Liberals and PCs are willing to pump billions of dollars into childcare – the Liberals want to put $5-billion into daycare centres while the PCs are willing to put $10-billion into childcare by offering programs such as giving families $1,200 rebates for each child under the age of six. How come they don’t they “pay” mothers to stay home with their children rather than creating incentives to put them in daycare. Stay-at-home mothers are unsung heroes because they have tough jobs that no one deems worthy of monetary value. In reality, we should rewarding them financially – tax credits, for example – if they choose to stay home and create a nurturing environment for their children.

Both our kids attend a non-profit daycare centre that provides a nurturing environment for our children. I agree in some cases, stay-at-home mothers or fathers is a better option, but a well run daycare centre can provide much more interaction and social skills. My wife and I agree we made the right choice going back to work. Offering programs such as giving families $1,200 rebates for each child under the age of six is a good start. More money in parents pockets far outweighs the Libs plan to put $5-billion into daycare centres. The Libs never implemented their childcare program they promised in 1993 ’cause they know it’s a black hole of waste and mismanagement.
